What Are Deemed Medical Universities?
Deemed-to-be universities are autonomous institutions granted special status by the University Grants Commission (UGC), while their MBBS programme remains regulated by the National Medical Commission (NMC). Being autonomous means they frame their own syllabus, conduct their own examinations and set their own admission policy — all within NMC's national standards.
Admission to every deemed medical university is done strictly through NEET UG and centralised MCC counselling — there's no separate state quota and no domicile barrier, so students from any state can apply on an all-India merit basis. Deemed universities typically don't offer SC/ST/OBC/EWS reservation; seats are filled purely under Management Quota and NRI Quota.
